Outlook Blocks unsafe attachments

As a network admin, it never ceases to amaze me the daily issues / problems which can arise.
I was contacted by one of our staff members as to Outlook blocking an internal attachment which was being sent from one staff member to another, that outlook itself was blocking attachments.

Time for the cape and leotards,,, I'm OFF !!!!


This error was being generated by Microsoft Outlook itself and not our AV software running on the local computer or our mail server.

Quick fix to resolve this was the following >>

Outlook 2002 blocks the access to a list of potentially unsafe
attachments. There is a way to work around this:
Start REGEDIT and navigate to the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\10.0\OUTLOOK\SECURITY and create a new string value named Level1Remove. Now modify the newly created subkey and type in the first attachment you want to unlock f.e. .exe (don't forget the dot in front of the extension!), all other attachments you want to access need to be separated by a semicolon (;) f.e. .exe;.doc;.xls
